How to make a stiff Brim for the Baby cap:
Working with the double strands of yarn you used for the hat
By folding your hat in half and using the fastening off-stitch position as the centre back of the cap.
On opposite side from BACK, Locate the Middle stitch, Mark 8 stitches down from the middle point FRONT each side + 1 in the center middle = ( 17 sts ), and attach the yarn
Working in ROWS
Row 1: sc in each st (17sts)
Row 2: Ch1, skip 1 st, *2sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts*, repeat from * to* until 2 sts left, skip 1 slip into last st
Row 3: Ch1, skip 1st st, 2sc in next, HDC in next 14 sc, 2sc in next st, skip 1 st, slip st into last.
slip stitch down the side of the brim and single crochet around in each stitch of the hat until you reach the next side of BRIM and slip stitch up side of brim to first st of last round to finish.
Fasten off and weave in all ends
The hat is worn with the BACK of hat, over babys head and pushing the top of the hat to the front over to the front to the brim to create the PEAK, You may want to put a stitch to hold the peak to the Brim!
