I personally adore this little hat for all children, and it’s consistently one of my favorite baby hat designs.
You can customize the babies cap with different color combinations and embellishments to suit any outfit or occasion.

Check for each SIZE what Materials you will need to crochet the hat.
I used slightly less than 40 grams of Style Craft Baby aran weight yarn for the 0-3 hat , and just over 50grms for the 0-3 months hat.
NEWBORN – Use a 4.00mm crochet hook and Aran weight yarn
Hat Circumference: 11-13 inches (28-33 cm)
Crown Width: 3-3.5 inches (7.5-9 cm)
Hat Height: 4-4.5 inches (10 cm)
Abbreviations
Ch=Chain
st(s) = Stitches
BPDC = Back Post Double Crochet
FPDC = Front Post Double Crochet
Work in rounds joining the last stitch to the top of the rounds start a chain
Crochet Baby Hat Pattern to Fit 0-3 Months Old Baby
Rnd 1: Ch 3 loosely, Working into the 1st Chain you made, create 8 dc, slip to join into the 3rd chain at starting. (11dc)
Rnd 2:Ch 3, starting in the BASE of chain, work 2Dc in each stitch around, (22)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, starting in the BASE of chain, *2Dc in first st, DC in next * Repeat around and slip to join into the top of the ch3. (33)
Rnd 4: Ch 3, starting in the BASE of chain, *2Dc in first st, Dc in next 2 sts, * Repeat around and slip to join into the top of the ch3. (44)
Rnd 5: Ch3, BPDC around the posts of the next 2sts, FPDC around the posts of the next 2 sts repeat from * to* around, slip to join,
Rnd 6 to Rnd 8 : Ch3,* BPDC in next 2st, FPDC in next 2 sts* repeat from * to * around finishing with a Slip to join.
Rnd 9 to Rnd 11: Ch3, Front Post HALF Double Crochet in each stitch around. Slip to join and Fasten off.
0-3 months Baby Hat Crochet Pattern – Use a 4.50mm hook and Aran Weight Yarn
Hat Circumference: 13-14 inches (33-35.5 cm)
Crown Width: 4-4.5 inches (10-11 cm)
Hat Height: 5-5.5 inches (12.5-14 cm)
Rnd 1: Ch 3 loosely, Working into the 1st Chain you made, create 11dc, slip to join into the 3rd chain at starting. (11dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, starting in the BASE of chain, work 2Dc in each stitch around, (22)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, starting in the BASE of chain, *2Dc in first st, DC in next * Repeat around and slip to join into the top of the ch3. (44)
Rnd 4: Ch 3, starting in the BASE of chain, *2Dc in first st, Dc in next 2 sts, * Repeat around and slip to join into the top of the ch3. ( 44)
Rnd 5: Ch3, BPDC around the posts of the next 2sts, FPDC around the posts of the next 2 sts repeat from * to* around, slip to join,
Rnd 6 to Rnd 10: Ch3,* BPDC in next 2st, FPDC in next 2 sts* repeat from * to * around
Rnd 12 to Rnd 13: Ch3, FPDC in Each stitch around, slip to join, Or continue until hat Height is achieved
Fasten off and Weave in ALL ends securely.
