Please NOTE: I am an extremely loose crocheter so please measure the crown diameter at the end of increased rounds to make sure it is correct for the size you are making )
What you will need to crochet this baby hat
You will need at least 25g of Double knit Baby yarn and a little extra for the crochet flower
**Check the hook size required for each size, 4.00mm or a 4.50mm crochet hook
To Crochet this Baby Hat in any of the first sizes You will need to be familiar with the crochet stitches needed below
Abbreviations – (US TERMS)
Written in US terms
Chain – Ch
Double Crochet – Dc
Single Crochet – Sc
Slip to join – slst
Working in the round Do not turn at the end of the round, but slip st to join.
NOTES:
- Each round is joined with a slip stitch, chain 2 or chain 3 and is not counted as part of the stitch counts per round.
- Always make the first stitch in every base of the chain 2/3 to start.
- This helps with the shaping of the beanie.
- I chain 2 at the beginning of the round, you may wish to chain 3 at the start if you feel the ch2 is too short
- **Please be advised I crochet extremely loosely you may need to go up a hook size to achieve the measurements)
- SO PLEASE check your crown width for hat is correct for your desired size at Rnd 4 /Rnd 5
NEWBORN Baby HAT PATTERN Starts Here
- The Crown diameter – will measure approximately 3.5 approx inches
- The Hat Circumference will measure 13 inches approx
- Hat Height (how many rows worked) for a newborn baby will be 5-5 inches.
Materials required for crocheting the Hat
Crochet Hook size = 4.00mm hook and Dk Light worsted for a Newborn Baby hat
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 12 DC into the first chain, or instead (Magic circle and 12 DC into the circle), Slip stitch into the top of ch3 (12)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 DC in every stitch around, Slip into the top of ch 2 to join (24)

Rnd 3: Ch2, (1st Dc in the base chain2 ), 2DC in next stitch, *dc in next stitch, 2DC* in next * repeat around Slip into the top of ch2 to join (36)

Rnd 4: Ch2, (1st DC in the base chain 3) *DC in next 2sts, 2DC in the next stitch* repeat ** around, Slip into the top of ch2, to join (48) at this point, your NEWBORN hat must measure approx 3.5 inches APPROX Across the circle diameter

Rnd 5 to Rnd 9: Ch2, starting in the base of Ch2, Dc in each stitch around(48), Slip into the top of Ch2 to join on every round.
Rnd 10 to Rnd 12: OR until length of hat is reached (Ch1 at the beg of each round), Sc in each st around. Slip into the top of ch 1 to join. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

0-3 Months Baby Hat Crochet Pattern
- The crown diameter will measure 4 inches approx
- Hat Circumference will measure 14 inches approx
- Hat height 5.5′ inches approx
Materials to need the 0-3 months: Using a Crochet Hook size 4.50mm hook and Dk Light worsted for 0-3 months baby hat
Rnd1: ch3, working 12 dc into the 1st chain slst to top of ch start to join, slst to top of ch start to join (12 sts)
Rnd 2 : Ch2, 2dc in the base of ch, 2dc in each stitch around slst to top of ch start to join(24sts)
Rnd 3: Ch2, (1st Dc in the base chain2 ), 2DC in next stitch, *dc in next stitch, 2DC* in next * repeat around (you are increasing 1 at every 2nd stitch around) Slip into the top of ch2 to join (36sts)
Rnd 4 : Ch2, (1st Dc in the base chain 3) *DC in next 2sts, 2DC in the next stitch* repeat ** around (you are increasing by 1 in every 3rd stitch around, Slip into the top of ch2, to join (48sts)
at this point, your 0-3 months hat should measure 4 inches across (Circle Diameter)
Rnd 5 to Rnd 10: Ch2, starting in the base of Ch2, Dc in each stitch around(48), Slip into the top of ch2 to join on every round.
Rnd 11 to Rnd 14: (Ch1 at the beg of each round), Sc in each st around. Slip into the top of ch 1 to join
NOTE: The length for 0-3 months is 5.5/ 6 inches. If you need to add an extra round, please do so here.

3-6 months Baby hat Crochet pattern – Dk Yarn and a 4.50mm hook
Hat circumference = 15 inches
Crown Diameter = 4.5 inches
Hat height = 6 inches
for the 3-6 months size DK yarn and a 4.50mm hook
Rnd 1: Ch 3, working into the first chain from hook, work 12 dc, join with a sl st into top of beg ch 3 (12dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2dc in base of chain, 2dc in next st* repeat around, join with a sl st into top of beg ch 3 ( 24dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st* repeat around, join with a sl st into top of beg ch 3 (36 dc)
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts* Repeat from * to * join with a sl st into top of beg ch 3 (48sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in each of the next 11 sts, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 11 sts* repeat 3 times, join with a sl st into top of beg ch 3 (52sts)
Rnds 6 to Rnd 11: Ch 3, 1 dc in each st around, join with a sl st into top of beg ch 3 ( 52 sts)
Round 12 to rnd 15: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st around ( 52 sc) Ensure your work measures 6.25 inches in length
Fasten off the yarn and weave in all threads.
How to Crochet a Simple Flower for a Baby Hatย

Magic Circle, 10SC into a circle, slip st to join, (or an alternative way to start ) Chain 2, 10 sc into 1st chain on hook, slip to join to top of Ch2(10sc)
Rnd 2: *Ch 2, slip into next stitch* repeat from ** around until you have 10 loops (if you want a 5 petal 6 petal just adjust by skipping stitches in between)
Rnd 3: Slip into st base of 1st loop and work chain 2, 3DC in loop for petal, ch2 slip into back into the 1st loop. (first petal complete) *slip into next loop *chain3, 3 DC Chain 2, slip into base of petal loop and slip into start next petal* Repeat around
finish off and weave in ends.
