Skill level: EASY
- Yarn: #4 worsted weight yarn (Orange yarn for the pumpkin, Green or brown yarn for the stem). Red Heart Super Saver is recommended.Shop Yarn deals here
- Hook: 3.50mm or a 4.00 mm crochet hook
- Other Supplies: Stitch markers, tapestry needle
- some glue for facial features(or you can sew onto the appliques with black yarn
The Crochet hook and Yarn I used for the garland pumpkins was a 3.50mm hook and DK yarn
How to crochet a Pumpkin applique (FREE Pattern)
Row 1: With orange, ch 6, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, 2 sc in last ch, turn. (7 sc made)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. (9)
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn.(11)
Row 4: Ch 1,2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. (13)
Row 5: Ch1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. (15)
Row 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. (17)
Row 7: Ch1, sc in each st across, turn (17)
Row 8: Ch1, sc in each st across, turn (17)

Row 10: Do Not Ch1, sc in first st into the base of ch1, Skip next st sc in each stitch until last 2, skip next st, sc in last st, turn. (15)
Row 11: Do Not Ch1,skip 1st st, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, skip nxt st, sc in last st, turn. (13)
Row 12: Do Not Ch1, (2sctog) x TWICE, sc in next 5sts, (2sctog) x TWICE (9sts)
Row 13: TOP OF THE PUMPKIN: Do not Ch1, sc in first st, hdc in nxt, (hdc,dc in next st,) hdc in next, slst into the middle st, hdc in nxt st (dc,hdc in nxt st,) hdc in nxt st, sc in last st, Fasten OFF. (DO not fasten off on 2nd pumpkin IF joining together to make a puffy pumpkin for the garland.)

If you want to make the slightly 3d stuffed pumpkin, then make a 2nd side, but do NOT fasten off, and then holding the 2 pumpkin appliques together, and join the 2 pumpkin appliques together either sewings around or working single crochet around joining the edges (remember to slip stitch at the top middle of the pumpkin for shaping for the stem!

- Option 2: or you can use a sturdy ribbon or thin rope and attach pumpkins to it.
- Adding the Faces – You can either cut out some Black card like I did or you can sew the features on with black yarn, or leave blank
- Hang and Enjoy: Drape your garland on your mantle, across a window, or on a wall to celebrate the season.
If it is DRY outside we put our pumpkin garland and our Halloween Pumpkin wind spinners out at the front so the children see was are open for Trick or treating.
