Here are the standard measurements for a crochet baby hat sized for a 2-year-old, keeping in mind that head sizes can vary slightly, SO I have added in Approx if making for a bigger 2 year old go with bigger sizing etc.

What are the Hat size Measurements for a 2-Year-Old Crochet Beanie

1. Head Circumference:
   • Average: 18–19 inches (46–48.5 cm)
2. Hat Circumference– Typically 1–2 inches smaller than the head circumference to ensure a snug fit:
   • Approx. 18 inches
3. Crown Diameter (Flat Circle Before Shaping): Approx 5.75inches
4. Hat Height (Top to Bottom of EAR):
   • Average: 7.25 inches

Materials You’ll Need to Crochet the Beanie Hat

• Hook: 4.00mm
• Yarn: Double Knit / 8 PLY (11 wraps per inch)
• Gauge: 22 stitches = 4 inches

With your 4.00mm crochet hook and double knit (light worsted weight yarn)

Crown Increases

Round 1:

• Create a Magic Circle, Ch 3, 12 DC into the circle, slip stitch to join (12 stitches).
  Alternative start: Ch 3, 12 DC into the first chain, slip stitch to join.

Round 2:

• Ch 3, 2 DC in each stitch around, slip stitch to join (24 stitches).

Round 3:

Round 4:

Round 5:

At this stage, the crown should measure roughly Approx 5.5 + inches in diameter.

Body of the Hat

Rounds 6–Round 13:

• Ch 3, starting in the base of Ch 3, DC in each stitch around, slip stitch to join

Border and Finishing

Rounds 14–17:

• Ch 1, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. or until hat measures from top to bottom 7.25 –7.5 inches
