Probably the cutest thing I have made is the baby santa hat and Santa booties, finished off with a pom pom or a little sparkly bow.

I have used Double Knit /Lightworsted weight Yarn. in Red and White Alternatively, you can just change to a thicker white fluffy yarn and single crochet around for a few rounds to finish.

I made these for a Newborn Christmas crochet gift. And love it when i get sent wee pictures like this!

The boot is made with a basic Baby booties crochet bootie pattern, which can be used to make snug little fitting booties, in any color at any time of the year.

Material you will need to Crochet Baby Hat and Booties

  • Yarn – 50 grms of Red Yarn and 25 grms white Double knit yarn or light worsted weight Yarn (I also made this with a white fluffy yarn (DK)
  • 4.00 mm crochet hook
  • stitch Markers

Abbreviations used for both the Hat & Booties Crochet Patterns

  • ch: Chain
  • st (s): stitches
  • sc: Single crochet
  • hdc: Half double crochet
  • dc: Double crochet
  • sl st: Slip stitch
  • 2dc2tog: Decrease stitch, where you work 2 double crochets together to decrease the stitch count.
  • rnd(s): Round(s)
  • rep: Repeat

Christmas Baby Crochet Pattern for the Santa Hat

Newborn baby hat size from tip to bottom of brim = 18.5 inches, Circumference ot fit 15 inches around

** NOTE: ** You Do not need to know how to create a magic circle as you will work all the first round into the first chain of the ch2 at the start – You will work in continuous rounds so use a stitch marker to keep track of ROUNDS worked)
In RED Dk/ light worsted weight yarn and a 4.00mm crochet hook

Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6)
Round 2: sc in each stitch around (6)
Round 3: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Round 4: sc in each sc around (12)
Round 5: * Sc in next sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from *to * around (18)
Rounds 6 and 7: sc in each sc around (18)
Round 8: * 2Sc in next 2 sc, work sc in next 2sts, repeat from *to * around (24)
Round 9 and Round 10: sc in each sc around (24)
Round 11: * Sc in next 3 sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from *to * around (30)
Rounds 12 to Round 15: sc in each sc around (30)
Round 16: * Sc in next 4 sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from *to * around (36)
Rounds 17 to Round 19: sc in each sc around (36)
Round 20 :* Sc in next 5 sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from *to * around (42)
Rounds 21 and 22: sc in each sc around (42)
Round 23: * Sc in next 6 sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (48)
Round 24 to Rnd 26: sc in each sc around (48)
Rounds 27: * Sc in next 7 sc, work 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (54)
Rounds 28 โ€“ Rnd 34: Sc in each stitch around (54)
After working Round 34, join with a slip st to first st to join
Change to white You will work in ROWS and TURN your work to work in the opposite direction as the previous round
Rounds 35 โ€“ 40: ch1, Sc in each stitch around, Slip to Join, TURN Fasten off.

FINISHING weave in ends.

Using a Pompon maker and with WHITE, yarn make a 1โ€ณ pompom.
Attach pompom to point at top of Hat. I Like to fold the top over and attach it with a stitch (optional)

BOOTIES – Easy Christmas Baby Crochet Patterns

Materials to croche tthe booties : I used a 3.50mm hook and baby double-knit yarn (I am an extremely loose crocheter to achieve size you may need to go up a hook size)
NOTE: 2dctog = work a specified number of stitches together

BOOTiE crochet Pattern – starting at the Sole: you will be working in the round
(make 2)

always start working into the BASE of chain at the beginning of rounds, and slip stitch to join into the chain at start.

Ch 10.

Round 1: work Sc in 2nd chain from hook, Work sc in nxt 7sts, Work 5sc in the last ch, working along the opposite side of the chain, work sc in nxt 7 sts, 2sc in the last ch, slip st to top of beginning ch to join.(22)
Round 2: Ch 2, 2hdc in BASE of ch, hdc in next 7 sts, 2hdc in each of the next 5 sts, hdc in nxt 7sts, 2hdc in last 2 stitches, slip st to top of beginning ch to join.(30)
Round 3: Ch 2, 2hdc in the BASE of ch, hdc in next 12 sts, 2hdc the next 4 sts, hdc in nxt 12sts, 2hdc in last st, slip st to top of beginning ch to join.(36)
Round 4: hdc in each st around, slst to join.(36)
Round 5: hdc in each st around, slst to join.(36)
Round 6: Ch 2, hdc in next 11 sts, [dc2tog] 8 times, hdc to last st, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. 28 sts,
Round 7: Ch 2, hdc in next 10 sts, [dc2tog] 5 times, hdc to last st, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. 23 sts
Round 8: Ch 2, hdc in next 10 sts, [dc2tog] 3 times, hdc to last st, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 9: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 10: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts

Change to White and TURN

Round 11: Working in the opposite direction Ch 2, sc in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 12: Continue Working in the opposite direction from main bootie, Ch 2, sc in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 13: Continue Working in the opposite direction from main bootie
