Free Crochet Baby Dress Pattern for Newborns

There’s something truly special about a newborn in handmade crochet—and this simple dress is the kind of piece you’ll come back to again and again.

Designed specifically for newborn size (0–1 month), this one-piece baby dress is crocheted top-down with no seams, no shaping headaches, and no fuss. Just easy stitches and a soft drape that feels as beautiful as it looks.

Worked in double knit (DK) yarn with a 3.5 mm crochet hook, and simple stitches, the dress has a classic yoke for the boddice, and a flowing shell stitch skirt.

It’s lightweight enough for summer but easily layered over a onesie or long sleeve for cooler days.
