Beautiful Easy Wavy Crochet Border for a Baby Blanket

This decorative yet easy Fan Wave Crochet Border can be used on any blankets from baby blankets to C2C designs, or scarves and shawls.

It’s one of my most requested edging patterns, and it’s perfect for adding a beautiful finishing touch to a blanket.

So this is how to make a wavy crochet border.

Materials List

  • Any yarn, any color (to complement the blanket you
  • Hook size of choice
  • Scissors, tapestry needle
  • EXTRAS: enough ribbon to go around your blanket if you’re wanting this finish.

Abbreviations and Stitch TERMS (US)

Dc – Double crochet

Start:

  1. Start your wave fan edging by attaching your yarn at 4 sts past any corner of your previously completed project 
  2. Ch3 to start, dc into the next 3 sts. (4 DC sts made) ch4, TURN your work,
  3. work a slst around the 3ch from the beginning, ch3. Now work 7dc into the ch4 loop space you’ve just made, (First wave complete)
  4. 1 dc into next 4 sts of the edge of the blanket. Ch4, slst around the previous waves ch4, (under the 7dc) TURN, ch3 and work 7dc into the 4ch loop
  5. Repeat Step 4 until corners

CORNERS

  • To go around any corners, just work 2 sets of 4 double crochet stitches in the corner st, then create your fan as before. If you are a tight crocheter, you can make even more around the corner for it to lie flat if needed.
