Sharks Crochet Pattern Summary

The crochet pattern is written, keeping track of your rounds as you work with a stitch marker means you can easily follow along.

You’ll start with the tail and work your way up to the mouth, with clear instructions for each part, including the body, fins, and mouth. The result is a charming, lifelike shark that will be a hit with kids and adults alike.

To Crochet The Large Shark You Will Need

A 3.5mm Crochet Hook.
200grms of grey DK yarn, I used Red Heart Bella
Some red and white yarn for the mouth and teeth.
Black Yarn for eyes (or you can use safety eyes if you prefer.)

Small pieces of cardboard if you wish the Sharks fins to stay straight.

Special Notes:
This Pattern is written in US terms
Use a stitch marker at the start of each and move upon completion of each round.
The pattern for the shark is worked from the tail to the mouth, where we will split the piece and then work separately in rounds to make the opening for the mouth.
I also used a small piece of cardboard for the Top Fin to help hold its shape, However, this means if you use cardboard it cannot be washed, instead clean with a damp cloth

finished and Stuffed the Shark is 25 inches long.

This is what your shark will be looking like at this stage

(you can sew the tail opening, by creating a triangle shape, then weaving the threads in a straight line to the middle back of tail, draw the up into a scrunch to create the shark back fin at this point if you wish, as I don’t like it to fill the tail with the stuffing.)

You can start to stuff the shark with the filling, ensuring it is evenly spread out along your shark’s body.

2nd Mouth Section:(Hold the shark RS with the nose pointing up and start at the corner of the shark’s mouth) move the stitch marker after the completion of every round.

  1. Diane Edmonson says:

I am confused as to whether the teeth piecee is made separately and then sewn into the mouth. Can’t figure that part out.

    1. YES the Teeth are worked ONTO the Red Piece (diamond shape) THEN SEW the mouth and teeth onto that sharks mouth

  2. I’m confused about how it begins. It says to start with a chain of 23, but then it suddenly turns into rounds. When do I connect the chain to itself to make a ring and start going in rounds?

    1. H DEvin! ch 23, DO NOT JOIN (you are working around BOTH SIDES of the Chain!

Rnd1: Working around the WHOLE chain, sc in 2nd stitch from hook, sc in each chain to last st , work 2sc in last st.

If you need me just meassage ! Lisa x

  3. im sorry my previous comment sounds strange by looking at the shark the rounds looks flat like a blanket. The stitches look like they go from tail to head instead of circular Do we join to make it round?

  4. It’s ok I’d say the sharks an advanced pattern have you made amigurumi before?
You actually simply just keep working, do not slip to join

What part of the shark are you talking about? The tail you need to work on both sides of the tails chain start, keep track of rounds by using stitch markers
