To make this You should be familiar with the basic crochet stitches, and working in the round.

SO….If you are looking for a fun and easy crochet project and want to add some color and charm to your car? Then you will just LOVE this FREE crochet Pattern for a hanging sunflower basket.

Crochet your own car accessory with this pattern which is FREE, Easy, and Fun to crochet.
I LOVE sunflowers and recently made a large Flower Bouquet that included Crochet Sunflowers. 

What you will need to be able to Crochet the Small sunflowers and hanging basket. 
Double Knit Yarn / Worsted weight
Light Brown- or your preferred color of the Basket
Yellow – for the sunflower petals, or any other colors you like for the flowers.
Green – leaves

You will also need a 2.5m crochet hook for the small crochet sunflower
4.00mm hook for the leaves
4.00mm hook for the basket
a pair of scissors, and a yarn needle.
and for the basket you will use 2 strands of DK worked together

The finished size of the basket is about 4 inches in diameter and 3 inches in height, not including the hanging loop.
To make the basket, you will start by making a magic ring with the color you have chosen for the basket.
Abbreviations used are in US terms 
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc –  double crochet
sl st –  slip stitch
st/sts – stitch/stitches
sp –  space
rep – repeat
nxt – next
Rnd – Round
inc – increase
bl – back loop
fl – front loop
bphdc – back post Half double crochet
fphdc – front post Half double crochet

The Small Hanging Basket Crochet Pattern

Small hanging basket pattern I used a 4.00m hook and 2 strands of DK held together

Rnd 1: Ch4, working into the first chain from the hook work 8  double crochet stitches into it. Slip to join (8sts)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2dc into each stitch around, slst to join (16sts)
Rnd 3: Ch3, 2dc in base of chain st, *sc into nxt, 2dc into next st* slst to join (24sts)
Rnd 4:  Ch3,  working in the back loops of previous round Dc into each st around, slst to join (24sts)
Rnd 5: Ch3 ,counts as first Dc, * Front Post Double Crochet around the next st, Dc into the next st * repeat this around, slst to join  (24sts)
Rnd 6: to Round 7 : Repeat Round 5
Rnd 8: ch1, sc into each st around, slip to join

Do not fasten off, continue to make the handle

TO crochet the Handle

Ch 40 Or until you feel the chain is going to be long enough to hang freely from the rearview mirror.
Fold the basket in Half and join the chain you have just made to the opposite side of the basket, slst to join, and fasten off.

Weave in all ends neatly.

Hanging Plant Pot SOIL
It will be made in Brown (or the same base color of your basket’s choice) and the leaves and flowers will be positioned and sewn onto the top side of it.

Ch4,
Rnd 1: working into the first chain from the hook work 8  double crochet stitches into it. Slip to join (8sts)
Rnd 2: 2dc into each stitch around, slip to join (16sts)
Rnd 3: 2dc in base of chain st, *sc into next, 2dc into next st* slip to join (24sts)  (this should fit around the top of the basket (see Pic Below)

Do NOT fasten off as You will then slip stitch around to join the soil to the basket. Stuffing The basket as you work around. joining the soil to the basket. Make sure you have the handle up the right way when joining so its not folded over!

SmallCrochet Sunflower Pattern: 

STARING in BROWN DK yarn with your 2.5mm hook (Middle of flower Colour)
Rnd 1: ch2, work 6 sc into the first chain (6 sts)
Rnd 2: work 2sc into each st  (12 sts)
Rnd 3: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next* Repeat * to * around (18 sts)
fasten off and leave a long tail to be used as slight stuffing when joined to the second center made

MAKE 2 Brown centers, 

Once you have made the SECOND INSIDE CIRCLE OF FLOWER
Holding BOTH the Brown center circles together and working through the BOTH pieces stitches.

Join with a slip stitch into the top of any double crochet st to start.
*Ch2,  (working ALL the next stitches  into the NEXT st,) [hdc, dc, ch2, slip stitch back into the first chain to create a small picot, dc,hdc], ch2, slip stitch into the next st* 1 PETAL COMPLETE

To start the next petal you will Slip the stitch into the next stitch to start * Repeat from * to * sequence around for a total of 8 petals. 
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Small Leaf Crochet Pattern:
To crochet the small leaves, you will use green yarn and 4.00 mm hook and make as many as you want. (I made 3)

Chain 8. Work a slst into the second chain from the hook, sc in next, hdc in next, dc in next 3 sts,  work 8dc into the LAST chain, now turn to work slightly to be able to work BACK down the OPPOSITE side of the chai, where you will mirror the stitches of the opposite side already worked, dc into the next 3sts, hdc in nxt, sc in next st, Ch1 (TIP of leaf) and slip to join to the first sl st Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

To assemble the hanging flower basket, 

you will sew the leaves into position (SEE Pic)  to the basket using the yarn tails and a yarn needle. You can arrange them however you like, but I suggest placing them equally around the sides of the basket for balance.

You can hang the basket in a few ways.
With a small suction cup, you will insert it through the hanging loop and press it firmly to your car window or any other smooth surface.
Position your small crocheted Sunflowers and sew through the BROWN center to the SOIL to ensure they are secured to the whole piece.

Or you can hang it from the rearview mirror  (PLEASE use with caution and not when driving)
You now have a beautiful hanging sunflower basket accessory that will add some sunshine and charm to your car.
