EASY Crochet Star Windspinner Pattern

Red white and blue crochet decoration pattern. EASY Crochet windspinner with Star Pattern, can be used to decorate no matter what the season.

I used the Easy 5 point star crochet pattern and made a celebration red white and blue holiday wind spinner.

In summer especially I am always looking for QUICK EASY crochet projects, like the wind spinners, they can be made really quickly and Look so fabulous when out in a light breeze.

You can use Any hook and Any weight of yarn.

The star pattern is WRITTEN in US terms

CROCHET STAR

How to work the  3 double-crochet clusters: (yarn over, insert hook ring, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook.)

dccl – Double crochet clusters

slst – slip into specified stitch

chsp – chain space

The crochet star pattern

Ch 5, join with ss to form a ring.

TO start Round 1: working this round INTO the ring. Ch 3, (counts as first dc in the 3 dc cluster st and continue to make 2 dc Cluster into the ring, ch 3, (3dc cluster into ring, ch 3) 4 times, join with Slst into the top of ch2. (5 Clusters)

Fasten off. (if changing color)

Round 2:  Join new yarn and into next ch3 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp; rep from * repeat around, join with ss in top of beg ch-3.

Fasten off. (if changing color)

Round 3: Join new yarn and into any ch space, ch 3, counts as first dc (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into ch space, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, skip next 2 sts, * 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, in next ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc)  1 dc in each of next 2 sts, skip next 2 sts; rep from * 3 times more, join with Sslst in top of beg ch-3.

(I FINISHED HERE for the Holiday Windpsinner – I made TWO and sewed them together, fastening to the bottom of the wind spinner ) 

To make the STAR BIGGER you will Increase on Each long side by 2 stitches each per round

Round 4:*Join new yarn and into any ch space, ch 3, counts as first dc (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into ch space, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, skip next 2 sts, * 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, in next ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc)  1 dc in each of next 4 sts, skip next 2 sts; rep from * 3 times more, join with Sslst in top of beg ch-3.

Round 5: Join new yarn and into any ch space, ch 3, counts as first dc (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into ch space, 1 dc in each of next 6 sts, skip next 2 sts, * 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, in next ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc)  1 dc in each of next 6 sts, skip next 2 sts; rep from * 3 times more, join with Sslst in top of beg ch-3.

Fasten off.

Windspinner for the Holidays Pattern  

NOTE: you will start each ROW at the SAME END

Written in US terms chain 100+1

ROW 1: single crochet in each stitch along. Fasten off leaving a long tail  (Starting at the same place as ROW 1 started)

ROW 2: 2dc in each stitch. Fasten off  (Starting at the same side as ROW 1 started)

ROW 3: 3dc in each stitch. Fasten off. (Starting at the same side as ROW 2 started)

I used a length (50cms) of Blue yarn to create a loop at the top of the spinner, to be able to attach it to a branch or hook.
