The fingerless wrist warmers were a last-minute gift I crocheted for my niece, who has taken up drumming.

The simple pattern uses a classic crochet ribbed stitch for the main part of the wristwarmers making them fit comfortably with a little stretch in them for easy movement.

Materials You will need to Crochet wristwarmers

Yarn and Crochet Hook You will need to make them.

  • Hook: Size I/5.50 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn: Aran / Worsted weight yarn
  • Measuring Tape, pencil and notpaper to write down your measurements if making cuson fit wristwarmers
  • Yarn/ Tapestry Needle to finish (or you can slip stitch the 2 sides together to join.

Can the wristwarmers be made ANY size in Any hook and with any yarn:

Yes You can use ANY yarn and HOOK, Just go by measurements

YOu need the 2 measurements to crochet the perfect fit wristwarmers.

  1. Calculating Your Starting Chain: Measure the length from the middle of your fingers to where you want your wrist warmers to finish. This will Be your starting chain Length! PLUS 1 stitch

2. WIDTH will measure around your WRIST You will crochet in rows into the back loops of the single crochet sts of each row and continue working until this measurement is reached.

The wrist warmers will be stretchy for your hands ensuring a snug cosy fit for your wristwarmers

Abbreviations used (US terminology)

sc – single crochet

Ch- Chain

blsc – Back loop single crochet

Wristwarmer Crochet Pattern Starts HERE

NOTE: I wanted my wristwarmers to be 10 inches LONG

Chain: make a chain the LENGTH you want your wrist warmer.

Row 1: Single crochet (sc) in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. Ch1 TURN

Row 2: back loop single crochet (blsc) in each stitch across. Ch1. TURN

Rows 3 Repeat Row 2 until you reach the WIDTH measurement of the wrist (I made 20 ROWS) and Continue working in ROWS and in the back loops rows of single crochet until the wristwarmer reaches the desired WIDTH (around wrist measurement LOOSELY) Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing seams together.

Finishing:

  • Fold the crocheted rectangle in half lengthwise, with the right sides together.
  • starting at where your long tail is Sew the long edges together using a yarn needle, leaving a small opening for your thumb, for my fingerless gloves I counted 8 stitches BACK from the TOP of the Wristwarmer Leaving 4 stitches unworked on each side of seam or leaving unsewn enough stitches to fit your thumb through) . Then continue to sew the LAST 8 stitches of seams to join together.
  • Weave in any loose ends.
