Summary of The free crochet Baby Mittens Pattern
The design is quite flexible and the mittens are made larger to the size chart, so as to be able to cover the little baby no scratch mitts, usually worn by babies, to add an extra layer of warmth.
The baby mitts are worked in ROWS, the top (fingers end) of the mitts have 3 (4) slip stitches worked into the back loop , and the bottom (CUFF) has 7 (9) slip sts worked into the back loops of previous stitches. IF you want to make the CUFF twice as long to be able to double the cuff up-. we found the older infant child needed the double cuff length to fold up to help keep these on little hands that are moving more. Then you can ADD these extra chains to the starting chain for size.
The Main body of the Mitten is worked in single crochet stitches.
