Second Earflap: continue with the front of the hat facing you! mark where your next earflap is going to be. 14 sts for the FRONT of the head between earflaps are unworked and 7 stitches for the BACK will be unworked from the side of the seam.

The side Seam will sit slightly OFF to the BACK of the HAT NOTE: You will have a smaller opening for the back of the hat and a Wider one for the Front

Optional: Make a small pompom and attach it to the top of hat.

How to make the Crochet Braids:

(Please remember shorter braids or ties when making anything for a baby and acknowledge the potential risks of using ties)

Cut 2–3 strands of yarn the same length (about 20–24 inches for baby hats).

Hold all strands together and tie a knot at one end.

Secure the knotted end, and tuck it under something heavy or clip it.

Hold the other end and twist the yarn tightly in one direction.

  • Twist until the yarn starts to kink on its own.

Fold the twisted yarn in half, bringing the two ends together. It will twist around itself into a perfect cord.

Smooth it out with your fingers and tie a knot at the end.

Thread the LOOP through the bottom of the earflaps and pull the chord through the loop to secure
