The best of crocheting these hanging plants is that they use up your scrap amounts of yarn!

What you will need to make the hanging and succulent plants

Small amounts of Double knit /light worsted weight green yarn,
Small amounts of Double knit /light worsted weight brown yarn (SOIL)
small amounts of Double knit /light worsted weight color for the PLANT POT (I used a light brown fawn color)
Crochet hook 3.00mm hook
scissors
yarn needle
stitch markers

NOTES: Please read

The crochet stitches used are single crochet, ( I used the yarn under method for the pots to make tighter stitcher stitching.)
You will attach the succulent or vines to the soil before sewing to the unworked rounds of the flower pot at round 13
If you want the Plants in a HANGING basket then chain 3 lengths in the same colour as the POT and attach evenly around the INSIDE of the Plant BEFORE sewing the soil into PLACE
the post and soil are made in amigurumi style crochet, but slip to join at the end of each round

Abbreviations

ch – chain

sc- single crochet

blsc – work single crochet stitch into the BACK LOOP

blhdc – back loop half double crochet

slst – slip stitch to join to the beginning of the round

PLANT POT CROCHET PATTERN (MAKE 3)

Save

Row 1: Ch2, and work 6 single crochet into the first chain from the hook, slst into the first stitch to join (6sc)

Row 2: ch1, starting in the BASE of Chain 1, work 2sc into each stitch around, slst into the first stitch to join (12sc)

Row 3: Ch1, sc in base of ch, *2sc into the next st, sc in the next st,* repeat from * to * around, slst into the first stitch to join. (18)

Row 4: Ch1, sc in base of ch, sc in the next st, *2sc into the next st, sc in the next 2 sts,* repeat from * to * around, slst into the first stitch to join (24)

Row 5: Ch1, sc in base of ch, sc in the next 2 sts, *2sc into the next st, sc in the next 3 sts,* repeat from * to * around, slst into the first stitch to join. (30)

Row 6: Blsc in each stitch around. slst into the first stitch to join. (30)

Row 7 to Row 12: sc in each stitch around, slst into the first stitch to join.(30)

Row 13: BLhdc in each stitch around, slst into the first stitch to join.(30)

How to Crochet The Soil for the Plant Pot (Make 3)

Row 1: Ch2, and work 6 single crochet into the first chain from the hook, slst into the first stitch to join (6sc)

Row 2: ch1, starting in the BASE of Chain 1, work 2sc into each stitch around, slst into the first stitch to join (12sc)

Row 3: Ch1, sc in base of ch, *2sc into the next st, sc in the next st,* repeat from * to * around, slst into the first stitch to join

Row 4: Ch1, sc in base of ch, sc in the next st, *2sc into the next st, sc in the next 2 sts,* repeat from * to * around, slst into the first stitch to join

Row 5: Ch1, sc in base of ch, sc in the next 2 sts, *2sc into the next st, sc in the next 3 sts,* repeat from * to * around, slst into the first stitch to join. (30sts)FASTEN OFF.

First up is the Crochet succulent plant which is extremely easy to crochet and can be made into a hanging succulent plant.

The main basis of the succulent is based on the method of the easy and popular 3d crochet rose pattern I have, and wound around to create the succulent.

Notes and Abbreviations used

(Dc,ch2,Dc) Work All into the SAME SPACE = Vst Made

ch3, slip st into the first chain = picot st made

TrC -Triple Crochet

ROW 1: Ch39,

In the 6th chain from hook make a Dc, (counts as the first V),* Ch1, SKIP 2chs, (Dc,ch2,Dc) All into the SAME SPACE (V Made)* continue working from * to * and complete to the end. (12 Vsts) TURN

Row 2: ch2(counts as first hdc, 2hdc into the first ch2 of the Vstitch from previous row, ch3, slip stitch back into the first chain of the ch3, (picot made) 2hdc, ch3, and slip stitch into the same space, to complete the 1st petal, sc in the ch1 space, *3dc, ch3 (picot) 3dc into the NEXT Ch2 Vstitch, Sc in the ch1 space* Repeat to create 5 petals, in the next Ch2 Space work *4TrC, ch3 (picot) 4TrC, sc in the next ch1 space*, Repeat until end. Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew together

Assembling the succulent:

The Piece will now want to curl in on itself naturally

starting from the beginning, smaller leaves end, roll and wind the piece around itself several times to arrange it into the succulent shape. (see Pic)

Thread the succulent yarn ENDS through the soil and tie tightly to secure (I have used thread later to further secure petals once made)
Taking your pot and soil, start to join the 2 pieces by sewing the outer unworked loops of the Row 13 hdc row and the final row of soil.
As you are a few stitches to closing the gap, finish off by adding slight stuffing to the pot and finish joining.
Hide all ends
If required use a fine sewing thread to further secure the petals into shape.

Hanging Hearts Crochet Plant FREE Pattern

I just love these cute small hanging crochet plants and the string of crochet hearts is really super simple to make!

NOTES: I have written out the STEPS you will take with each stitch

The stitches for the HEART are ALL Worked INTO the SAME Chain space

Taking your desired hook and yarn

( I used a 3.00mm hook and Double knit /light worsted yarn)

TrC – Treble Crochet (Us terms)

Step 1: Ch5, (counts as Chain4) IN the first chain you made, make ALL the next stitches into this space
Step 2: 3dc, ch1, TrC, 3dc, ch3, slip stitch back into the chain stitch you have been working in to finish (FIRST heart Leaf made.)
Step 3: to secure the heart on the chain slst into the 2nd chain you made (2nd of the chain5 start)

*Step 4: Chain 9, 3dc, ch1, TrC, 3dc, ch3, slip stitch back into the chain stitch you have been working in to finish (SECOND heart Leaf made.)
Step 5: to secure the heart on the chain slst into the 2nd chain you made (2nd of the chain5 start) *
Step 6: Repeat from STEP 4 to STEP 5 Make as many individual leaves as you want.

Step 7: Once the length is achieved (I make anything from 7 to 9 hearts) Chain 5 to finish and fasten OFF

Step 8: leave a long tail to help thread through the soil to secure.

TO Finish the Hanging Heart Vine

Refer to Assembling the Succulent for the SAME directions to finish by sewing the Vine to the soil and joining the soil to the pot

Spiral hanging crochet plant Pattern

The long training hanging vine in the pot Crochet Pattern is loosely based on my Crochet Lavander Pattern, to give a full trailing effect with a lot of body to the vine.

NOTE: you can make the vines any length you wish by simply Chain a length you want your trailing vine to be,

I make a few longer /shorter than the others but the basic pattern still works no matter the length you choose.

Step 1:Ch 40 PLUS 7

Step 2: 47 chs, slip into the 7th chain from the hook,

Step 3: *chain 7, slip stitch back into the same chain space, slip stitch to the next st* and repeat from * to * until end, slst to fasten off leaving a long tail to secure the vine onto the soil

Crochet as many trailing vines and any length you require (I made 5 vines)

To Finish the Trailing Vines

Refer to Assembling the Succulent for the SAME directions to finish sewing the Vine to the soil and joining the soil to the pot (ABOVE)
