Crochet Top Tutu Dress for an Older Girl (Frozen Inspired Elsa Tutu Dress Up)

I am in love with the tutu crochet top-dresses. But cannot sew! So may I introduce to you the sewing FREE  crochet tutu dress and how to add all the tulle for the skirt.
I was asked to make one with a crochet bodice for a 6-month-old girl to wear for a Frozen-inspired Party, and then my niece wanted an Elsa From Frozen Inspired Dress for Halloween.
Can’t sew or Crochet!!.. Do not worry ..read on to see how you can buy all the materials and make a no SEW Tutu Dress with a bought Crochet Headband top.  even the Craft Challenged could make a beautiful dress easily.

More importantly, it is 9 years old verified, with friends delighted and wanting one too. My Niece just loves it as it has not been off her since she got it!

Since she is growing like a wild just now I wanted something that would give a little bit room to grow. So I made the back open with a ribbon threaded down the back so it can be made bigger or smaller as needed.

It really was easy and there is NO sewing! (ok threading in the loose ends but that’s it!)
Once you have created your crochet top you can then add the tulle using slip knots around the bottom.

If you are not sure how to do this you can visit my page here where I show you how to make a no-sew Tutu.

For The Bodice, I used red Heart Soft Baby Steps – Aqua (00006)Beautiful silky, and very soft! It works up beautifully

I have seen people using the elasticated Crochet Headbands as the bodice (THESE are fab!) and cheap too!

To create your Tutu Dress Here is what you need. These are so cheap the prices are ridiculously cheap!

I crocheted this bodice using the Box stitch or the Crazy shell stitch.
 Basically, you crochet a rectangle shape that will fit the size of child, underarm measurements – just below waist level
Make the chain long enough to fit around the Bust area!  You need to make sure your chain is multiples of three…(like 33)

I made it long enough to fit my niece’s body and wide enough to fit comfortably around her chest area.
 sc= single crochet
dc= double crochet

Row 1: Begin with a chain, in multiples of three, plus one extra. 33+1 =34 sts total.

Row 2: in the 4th stitch from hook work 3dc, Skip the next 3 stitches,
Sc in the next stitch, ch3, *make 3dc in SAME space as Sc you just made,
skip 3 stitches and sc in next* Repeat  from * across and end with a Sc. TURN

Row 3: Ch3, and make 3dc into the base of the Ch 3 just made, Sc in the next chain 3 space. *Chain 3, make 3 dc in the same chain 3 space. Sc in the next chain 3 space.* Repeat  * across. And end with a Sc. TURN

You will repeat Row 3 until you reach the LENGTH you require which is from under arm to waist.

Finishing OFF your bodice:

As you can see from the picture here I single-crocheted up and down the back opening in sc.
On the LAST rows, I used single crochet, skip 1 single crochet in next st * Repeat to create a loop the thread the ribbons.

Adding the TULLE to make your dress
Cut several lengths of tulle (double your length of how long you want your skirt to be)

I threaded the 6 inch wide lengths of tulle through the bottom row of the bodice. and secured using a slip knot (tight) around the dress filling in any spaces and gaps.
