BOOTIES PATTERN

Bootie Construction Summary (Baby Size)

The baby slipper bootie is crocheted in one piece, starting from the toe and working back toward the heel, then finishing with a ribbed-style cuff:

  1. Toe & Foot – YOu do not need to know a magic ring to start the bootie, it worked in continuous rounds, increasing to form a rounded toe.
  2. Body of Bootie – Continues in the round adding 1 extra stitch pre round,
  3. Heel Shaping – Once the foot length (to the front of HEEL) is complete, the heel is then worked flat in rows,
  4. Seam Heel – The flat heel section is folded First st of Row to Last st of last row, and seamed together to close the back.
  5. Optional Ribbed Cuff – The final rounds are worked around the top edge in half double crochet in the back loops only (hdc blo) to create a soft, stretchy cuff that fits snugly on baby’s ankle.
This was made using a 4.00mm crochet hook and DK yarn so you can see the construction of the bootie more easily

You will need a 4mm crochet hook and some fluffy DK baby yarn, scissors and yarn needle to fasten off ends.

Can these be made bigger? (once you’ve made the first pair and see how they are made you can size these up really easily)

NOTE: Always start first stitch of round in the base of chain!
