Easy Ribbed Puff Stitch Crochet Baby Hat Pattern with Earflaps Free (Newborn & 0–3 Months)

The Raised Ribbed Puff Crochet stitch is quite stretchy, so it allows for a lot of growth. I have included the newborn photo prop hat pattern and the 0-3 months crochet baby hat pattern.

A free, easy-to-follow crochet pattern for a newborn and 0–3 month puff stitch baby hat with ribbing and earflaps. Includes materials, stitch details, and sizing.

The Ribbed Raised Puff stitch crochet baby hat texture is made by  Working 2 FRONT POST double crochet stitches together (FPdc2tog) around the same stitch post from a previous round.

LOOSELY WORK THESE STITCHES TO CREATE A NICE PUFF TEXTURE

  •  You insert your hook around the post of a stitch from a previous round
  • (yarn over, insert hook around the post, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two).
  • DO NOT finish it. Leave the last two loops on the hook.
  • Then you work a second front post double crochet around the same postagain leaving the last two loops on the hook.
  • Finally, you yarn over and pull through all loops
  • joining the two partial FPDCs together into one raised puff-like stitch.
