How the Spiral Windspinner is Made
You can recreate these spiral crochet shapes by equally adding multiple stitches into each stitch per row as you work outwards.
And the more often you add stitches, the curlier your spiral crochet project becomes.
The wind spinner is typically made by crocheting a long strip. I chain around 60 – 100 chains depending on the length I want it to be (the full length will include a Charm or decoration you want to hang from it.
EACH NEW ROW is started at the SAME end.
By adding multiple increases in the SAME stitch to the following rounds starts to create the spiral
How to Crochet a Spiral Windspinner Decorations & How to make your wind spinner SPIN
MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: The best way to make your wind spinner spin is to attach Fishing swivel hooks to the tail from the FIRST ROW (must be only 1 length of yarn) of the spinner.
- YOu start the ROWS of the wind spinner ALWAYS from the SAME side.
- Once finished you may find the wind the spinner is out of shape, simply wind the circles around the middle to lay on top of each other evenly.
- To get your spinners to spin fast you will require double swivel hooks to attach(BUY HERE *AF) to the starting TAIL of Row 1 and to attach the opposite end to where you are hanging it from. I usually tie another single piece of yarn to the opposite side of the swivel then tie this yarn to the tree branch or porch
- If it is too windy they will swish from side to side, so I prefer to put the crocheted object at the bottom of the spinner.
- Spray the DISC SIDES lightly with water (DO NOT SOAK ) and put a heavy book on the top to dry. This helps the spiral keep its shape better when put up to hang.

- Leave a Longtail at the BEGINNING and ENDS of round 1 – This is used to connect your windspinner to the swivel hook at top and connect the pumpkin at the bottom. All other ends cut yarn and weave in ends.
- Fasten off the last stitch by working as normal but by pulling your yarn through the last stitch completely. START EVERY ROW at the SAME SIDE. Working EVERY ROW in the SAME direction
