Doll Crochet Pattern Summary
The amigurumi doll does NOT require a magic ring to start! I find it easier to chain 2 and work in the FIRST hook then pull tight ot close.
Some of the images used to show the steps of the pattern are worked in Aran weight yarn. The crocheted doll is made from the feet up. You will crochet the arms first! and if you want to attatch them to the doll as you work I have given instructions on how to do this! Or you can simply attatch arms once finished the doll.
The hair is optional and I have included 2 different ways to make doll hair that I use. Ballerina Bun, and a crocheted cap with attatching yan to it to make hair
The dolls crocheted underwear and dress pattern are included in this pattern on this page.
Doll features- You CAN use any sized mm saftey eyes that you prefer, however I prefer to sew on the eyes and mouth to the crochet dolls I make, especially if gifting to a young child.
Special stitch for NO holes in your Amigurumi
Sc – Single crochet (USE Yarn UNDER single crochet for a tighter stitch. How do you work yarn under in single crochet for no holes in your amigurumi crocheted doll.
The “yarn under” technique in crochet is a variation of the standard “yarn over” method. It’s often used in amigurumi projects to create tighter and more defined stitches. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
- Insert the hook into the next stitch.
- Yarn under: Instead of wrapping the yarn over the hook, bring the yarn under the hook and pull up a loop (you should have 2 loops on the hook).
- Yarn over: Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through both loops on the hook.
This method creates a denser and more structured fabric, which is great for projects that need to hold their shape)

Leave a length of yarn to attach your Hairpiece to the doll head. Add a tiny piece of stuffing ot the bun!
And Sewing through the last Rounds stitches, onto the head of the doll and some of the rows preceding to ensure the hair is fastened securely.
If you would like to crochet the Long haired wig cap for the DOLL.
I crocheted a CIrcle HALF the size of head

Position and SEW onto the head with the bottom of the circle just above the base of the neck and the front sits just over the first few rounds of head.
Use your hook to pull through the strands onto the head.

I then use several pre-cut lengths of the same colour hair strands I simply wrapped yarn around a book and cut then used my crochet hook to thread and loop through both the cap and the head to secure into place.
Depending on the style of hair I can use less or more pre cut strands. (It is totally preference to each individual)
For the RED Doll I worked around the hairline and tied it into bunches at the sides of the head.
