Construction of Baby Bonnet & Size chart
You will work the crown, the back of the bonnet, and then continue on with the sides, made with rows, until Bonnet Length is achieved.

What you will need to crochet the baby bonnet
Yarn: 3-ply baby yarn, (fingering weight yarn) less than 50grams
Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook
scissors
Ribbon (small enough to go through the dc posts, and oong enough for the size chest plus extra for BOW )
3 buttons
Gauge: 5 dc sts = 1 inch
Skill Level: Easy
Stitch Pattern: 4dc = Shell all worked into the middle of the previous shell stitch
Crochet Terms and Abbreviations (US Terms)
4dc – SHELL stitch all worked into the middle of previous shell (2nd double crochet of the 4)
ch โ Chain
The foundation of crochet. Yarn over and pull through the loop on your hook.
st(s) โ Stitch(es)
The individual loops you work into on each row or round.
dc โ double crochet
Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through remaining 2 loops.
sc โ Single Crochet
Insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops.
sl st โ Slip Stitch
Insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull through both the stitch and the loop on the hook. Used to join rounds or move across stitches.
rep โ Repeat
Repeat the instructions within the marked section (usually between * or ( )) as many times as indicated.
RS โ Right Side
The front-facing (outer) side of your project.
ch sp โ Chain Space
The open space underneath a chain stitch (commonly used for placing stitches in lace or shell patterns).

Newborn Baby Bonnet crochet Pattern Written Pattern
Round 1: Chain 3.(does not count as a stitch). Work 10 dc sts into the first chain from the hook. (10 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch). Starting in the base of the chain,Work 2 dc sts in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to top of chain at start (20 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2, (does not count as a stitch). 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in each of the next stitch, then 2 dc in the next stitch*. Repeat form * to * around Join (30 sts)
Round 4: Ch 2,(does not count as a stitch). 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in each of the next 2 sts, then 2 dc in the next stitch*. Repeat form * to * around Join with a slip stitch to top of the chain at start. (40 sts)
Round 5: Ch 2, (does not count as a stitch). 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in each of the next 3 sts, then 2 dc in the next stitch*. Repeat form * to * around Join with a slip stitch to top of chain at start (50 sts)
Round 6: Ch2, 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in each of the next 8 sts, then 2 dc in the next stitch*. Repeat form * to * around Dc in remaining 4sts, Join with a slip stitch to top of chain at start (56 sts)
Round 7: Ch 2. (does not count as a stitch). Starting in the base of the chain Work 1 dc in each of the next 50 sts. Leave the last 6 sts unworked. Turn your work. (50 sts)
Row 8: Ch 3. Work 3 dc into the base of the chain (counts as First 4dc SHELL) Skip 2 sts, work 4 dc in the next stitch (SHELL made), skip 2 sts. Repeat from * to * across. Work 3 dc in the second-to-last stitch, then 1 dc in the last stitch. Turn.
Row 9: Ch 3. (counts as first dc of shell) Work 3 dc into the next st. *work 4 dc into the middle of the next shell,* Repeat from * to * across. Work 3dc in the last shell and dc in the top of the chain start, to finish the row. Turn
Repeat Row 9 until the bonnet measures approximately 5.5 inches in length.
Do not fasten off.
Ties: Chain 37. Starting in the second chain from the hook, work 1 single crochet in each chain. Slip stitch to join to the corner of the bonnet.
Work single crochet sts evenly across the neckline. Repeat the tie on the opposite corner. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
0-3 months Baby Bonnet crochet Pattern
Materials:
Yarn: 3-ply baby yarn
Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook
Gauge: 5 dc sts = 1 inch

Crown โ Worked in Joined Rounds:
Round 1: Ch 3 (does not count as a stitch). Work 10 dc into the first ch from the hook. Join with a sl st to first dc. (10 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch). 2 dc in each st around. Join with a slip stitch to top of chain at start (20 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. Join. (30 sts)
Round 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat form * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to top of chain at start (40 sts)
Round 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat form * to * around Join with a slip stitch to top of chain at start (50 sts)
Round 6: Ch 2, 2 dc in base of chain, *dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st.* Repeat form * to * around Join with a slip stitch to top of chain at start. (60 sts)
Round 7: Ch 2. Dc in next 54 sts (leave last 6 sts unworked). Turn. (56 sts)
Shell Section โ Worked in Rows:
Row 8: Ch 3, 3 dc in base of ch. *Skip 2 sts, 4 dc in next st*, repeat across. End with 3 dc in second-to-last stitch and 1 dc in last st. Turn.
Row 9: Ch 3 (counts as first dc of shell), 3 dc in next st. *4 dc in the center of the next shell, repeat across.* End with 3 dc in the last shell and 1 dc on top of ch-3. Turn.
Repeat Row 9 until the bonnet measures approx. 6-6.5 inches from crown to edge
Do not fasten off.
Ties: Ch 40. Starting in the second ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Sl st to the corner of the bonnet.
Work sc evenly across the neckline.
Repeat the tie on the opposite corner. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
