How to Crochet a Daisy Granny Square Bag

I knew as soon as I had made the crochet daisy bucket hat I was asked to crochet a bag.

But instead of using the 8 petal daisy, I decided to use a 12 petal daisy for the granny square.

And as soon as I posted the Crochet Granny SQaure bag you were asking for the pattern on how to crochet the daisy Granny Square Bag.

This is NOT a hard crochet project, it really is quite easy once you have made the squares. It’s a fantastic Yarn Stash buster crochet project.

I will take you through the steps to help you crochet your very own daisy center granny square bag. Please note these crochet daisies have 12 petals.

Easy written pattern for the Crochet Daisy Square

Yellow (center)

Rnd1: Chain 3. work 12 dc into the first chain. join with a slip stitch and fasten off.

Rnd2: 1st daisy petal:ย  ch3, (the chain 3 at the beginning is counted as a dc)

and continue with making the dc crochet cluster.

(Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yo pull through 2 loops only.

repeat 2 more times until you have 3loops on your hook. (see pic)ย  yo and pull through all 4 loops.)

ch 2.

ย in the next stitch make a 3dc cluster and in each remaining stitch for a total you will have 12 petals.

ch 2. and join with a slip stitch at the top of the initial ch 3 and fasten off.

Join new color in any ch2 sp.

Ch3 and work 2dc In the next ch 2 space,

ย make (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc )for the first full corner, 3 dc in next ch2 sp* Repeat * to * until you get back to ch3

ย slip st into to the 3rd chain of the initial ch 3.

to make the Second round of Granny Square .

Slip along the top of the stitches of the 3 dcs, to the next space where you will start the Granny square repeat. Making 1 EXTRA 3dc clusters along each side.

You can make the Square as large as you wish by continuing working in the increase 1 more 3dc into the space per each side per round.
Make 13 Squares in Total for this bags layout. Finish off ALL your ends at this point.ย  and weave in neatly.

Start to sew JUST the TOUCHING edgesย  of each square together

FOLD the Crochet Piec in HALF as pictured above.

FOLD IN HALF and IN towards the Centre Square as shown ABOVE

NOW SEW the seams together as SHOWN IN RED
Fasten OFF and weave in ALL loose Ends
How to crochet the Handles.
Join to ANY stitch on a Long side of the Front of the Bag (front of bag Layys completely flat)
Sc in each stitch until the meeting corners. SKIP 3 stitches ( well call this the VALLEY) and work directly UP the Next side in single crochet to the middle chain of the corner of the square.
Chain 60 (or as many as you wish the length of the bag to be. )
ensuring the chain is not twisted, attach to the opposite PEAK of your bag, by single crochet into the corner stitch of square and proceed to continue to first sc made and slip to join.
I have made the background darker so as you can see the joining better.

2nd row, sc in each stitch until you reach the Valley, skip 2 sts, and work up the opposite side, continue sc in EACH stitch around the chain handle, and back to the beginning, sip to join.

You can repeat another few rounds if you wish, but remember the Thickness of the Handle will double when you use to crochet the next side. I find 3 Rounds are Enough
Start 2nd Handle in exactly the SAME WAY.
the inside Valleys of your Bag
Join Yarn that you are using for Handle and Sc in each stitch around INCLUDING working in the BACK of the Chain length you created on the front sides
Remember to Skip the 2 stitches at the VALLEY and if you feel you need to you can skip a stitch at the peak of the handle.
Fasten off all lends and weave in neatly.
