I have been meaning to write up this
Sunflower Crochet Square for ages it’s been half sitting in my drafts and finally got around to writing it down and perfecting it to publish the written pattern.

My daughter wanted a more dainty sunflower for the center of her Square for a Bag.
And I have had this sunflower Square in my drafts for a while and wanted to make a sunflower crossbody bag with the Sunfower Square as the middle.
What yarn and hook will you need to crochet this sunflower Sqaure?
You can use any combinations of hook and yarn that are compatible with each other to crochetthe sunflower square.
What Size will your Finished square be?
The Finished size of the Square will Depend on your choice of Yarn and hook.
I used Aran Weight and a 5.50mm hook – Finished Square = 6 x 6 inches
Special Stitches:
You will need to know how to crochet a Triple Crochet Cluster Stitch for the Sunflower Petals ( or a simple way of working this stitch by Working 3 Triple Crochet stitches together)
Abbreviations:
slst – Slip Stitch,
Dc – Doube Crochet
TrC – Treble Crochet
ROUND 1: (Center color / BROWN): ch 4, then work 8 dc into the first chain, finish with 1 slst in 3rd ch from beg of round = 8 dc.
ROUND 2: (NEW Colour/ YELLOW ) 1 sl st in first dc, ch 3, into the base of the ch3, 2 TrCrocet together, (then make 1 YO and pull the thread through all 4 loops on hook) Ch5, * working into the top of the next dc of the previous round, Work 3 TrCrochet together, finish by making 1 YarnOver and pull the thread through all 4 loops on hook), Ch5, * REPEAT From * to * in top of all dc from previous rounds = (8 x 3Tctog Petals, 8 x Chain 5 spaces)
ROUND 3: In NEW color / GREEN ) join new yarn with a slip st and *working into ch5 space 4 Dc, 2Trc, In the next ch 5 space, 2TrC, 4 Dc* Repeat * To * around and finish with sl st in first Dc.
(Each Loop should have 2Trc, 4 dc sts)
NOTE: the CORNER is made between the 2 sets of Treble Crochets.
ROUND 4: (Same color /GREEN ): Work 1 dc in each st from the previous round, ( 2TCr, ch1, 2Trc) in all corners crochet, finish with 1 sl st in the first dc, and cut yarn and fasten off.
You will have 15 sts on EACH SIDE, and Ch1
