Pattern Overview – Worked from the Feet Up
This mini teddy mascot is crocheted in one continuous piece from the feet upward, making assembly smoother and shaping more consistent. All parts are worked in the round using a magic ring. Arms, ears, and muzzle are made separately and sewn on. Safety eyes and nose can be swapped for embroidery if gifting to small children.
- Legs & Body
Start with the feet , Legs are joined together and work upward through the shorts and shirt into the head.
- Shirt & Shorts
Use team colours for the shirt and white for shorts. Embroider initials, jersey numbers, or logos for extra flair.
- Head
Classic teddy shaping with strategic increases and decreases. Insert safety eyes between Rounds 13–14, spaced 3 stitches apart. The muzzle is sewn on just below the eyes, with a safety nose or embroidered detail.
- Arms
Simple shaping with tight rounds for durability. Sew arms between the body and head for a seated pose.
- Ears
Flattened semicircles sewn to the top sides of the head for a classic teddy silhouette.

How to Achieve a Clean Color Change in Your Crochet Teddy
To ensure a neat transition between colors, especially in amigurumi or teddy-style projects, follow these steps carefully:
- Track Your Stitches Always count your stitches—use a stitch marker to identify the first stitch of each round. This helps maintain alignment and prevents accidental shifts.
- Color Change Round On the last stitch of the old color, remove your hook and insert it from behind into the first stitch of the previous round. This completes the round cleanly.
- Introduce New Color Pull the new color through the loop to join. Gently tighten the old color to secure the transition.
- Continue in New Color Work the next round in the new color as usual. When you reach the end of the round, slip stitch into the first stitch to close the round before continuing in continuous rounds.
- Tidy the Transition Leave a slightly longer tail of the old color. You can use this later to discreetly sew over the slight “jog” in the stitches, smoothing out the visual break.
Yarn Under Single Crochet (How To)
This teddy is made using the yarn under single crochet (yu sc), not the traditional yarn over.
- Insert hook into stitch.
- Bring yarn under the hook from front to back.
- Pull through the stitch (2 loops on hook).
- Yarn over and pull through both loops.
This technique creates tighter, neater stitches, ideal crochet stitches for amigurumi and stuffed toys.
