I do love the springtime flowers and especially the yellow daffodils.

Spring Daffodils are a sign of new beginnings and growth for the land, and you know summer is on its way too when these beautiful flowers start appearing.

I honestly really do Love having the bright crochet flowers around the house, no matter what time of year!

How to crochet a Daffodil Flower

I really wanted to design and make an all-in-one-piece easy crochet daffodil flower.

After several attempts, I just could NOT get the look I wanted.

The flower petals of the daffodil are beautifully symmetrical.

SO I found I had to make the individual petals for this beautiful yellow flower in parts and then sew them into position.

I may revisit it at some point and try again to crochet it all in one, but I really didn’t want a seam in the middle of the leaves.

So I’m really happy how this Daffodil flower has turned out.

NOTES: When increasing you are working INTO the Base of the Chain at the start of the ROW,

When you are decreasing SKIP this stitch, by working into the next st.

MAKE 6 individual Daffodil Petals

For the pictures, as seen on this post,

I used a 3.0mm hook, but Id suggest using a 2.5mm hook with the DK yarn

Chain 2,

2sc into the first chain, Ch1 TURN
2sc into the BASE of the chain, sc in last st, Ch1 TURN (3)
2sc into the BASE of the chain, sc in next 2sts, Ch1 TURN (4)
2sc into the BASE of the chain, sc in next 3sts, Ch1 TURN (5)
2sc into the BASE of the chain, sc into next 3sts,2scin last st, Ch1 TURN (7)
sc into the BASE of the chain, sc into each st, Ch1 TURN (7)
sc into the BASE of the chain, sc into each st, Ch1 TURN (7)
sc into the BASE of the chain, sc into each st, Ch1 TURN (7)
sc into the BASE of the chain, sc into each st, Ch1 TURN (7)
sc2together, sc in next 3sts ,2sctog, Ch1 TURN (5)
sc2together, sc in next ,2sctog Ch1 TURN (3)
sc in the 3 sts along the BOTTOM of the Petal, (work 2sc in the corner) and continue to work evenly sc UP the side of the daffodil, (sc, ch1, sc)in the very first chain st you made (TOP of PETAL), work evenly back down the side of the daffodil. You may need to work 2sc in one stitch if the petal is starting to curl
FASTEN OFF.
Weave in Ends

How to crochet the Middle of The Daffodil Pattern

Ch2, work 8 sc into the first chain from the hook, (8)
2sc in each stitch around. (16)
(ch1, sc in SAME st) Repeat around. (You will have 16 sts, 16ch1 spaces )
FASTEN off and weave in ends,
I pull through the END of the yarn and separate the strands.

How to assemble the Daffodil

Using the MIDDLE stitch of the bottom of each PETAL, as guidance lay each piece like the picture below. SEW securely into place. If the petals are curling up. Spray a fine mist of water over the flower, and use your fingers to gently shape the petals. Leave to dry flat and repeat with the last 3 petals.

Position the 3 remaining petals on top of the first 3 you sewed together (use pic below as guidance for placement
Sew the Middle piece including through to ALL six Petals to ensure it is completely secured.
