This Amigurumi pumpkin was made to go with the Pumpkin wind spinner, to help give the spinner weight at the bottom and becomes extremely popular in the autumn months and leading up to Halloween and Thanksgivingย Harvest.

SPECIAL NOTES: to make sure you have NO HOLES as you crochet the pumpkin you will use the

YARN UNDER SINGLE CROCHET (also known as the X stitch) –

I use the Method of YARN UNDER for the Single crochet, it gives a much nicer finish and is not so โ€˜gappyโ€™, simply put instead of YARN Over like you normally would, Yarn under the hook and then finish single crochet as normal (just make sure the first Yarno over Is YARN UNDER )

What you will need to make the small Crochet Pumpkin
3.50 mm crochet hook
A small amount of (25g) Double Knit yarn Orange Yarn, an even small amount of Green yarn for the Stem and leaf

How do you crochet a different size pumpkin.

To make it slightly Bigger you could make the pumpkin Holding 2 Strands of DK yarn together and a 4.50mm hook and you can use a bigger hook. OR use thicker yarn and a bigger hook. Just follow the same pumpkin pattern as below

How to make indents on a crochet pumpkin

Shaping and Making the Seams around the Pumpkin you can pin where you want each seam to go but I usually just go with eye placement. Flatten into a shape for a pumpkin.

crochet pumpkin pattern free - how to create the ridges on the pumpkin
  1. Cut a long piece of your chosen color for the pumpkin.  Cut it as long as it is comfortable to work with.
  2. Thread it into the needle.
  3. Fix the yarn at the top of the orange part. Weave between the rows towards the bottom of the pumpkin however, leave out the last 3 rounds.
  4. Pierce your pumpkin from the bottom where you have just ended back to the top (pushing the needle and yarn back to the same position where you started but through the pumpkin this time)
And pull hard to tighten. (it will cinch it in)
  5. Repeat step number 4, and fasten it if you think it needs it to secure
  6. Count a few steps either left or right, and REPEAT STEP 3 – STEP 5
It is up to you how many times you do this.
