You can make this crocheted baby hat and bootie set in any colours you wish.

The little hat is also a perfect size to crochet and donate to Charity.

These crocheted baby hats and bootie baby sets always sell well at craft fairs. 

They really are easy and fast crochet projects to make up. 

I had also been asked several times to make the bootie and hat set for a pregnancy reveal for grandparents.  SO I  bought some Beautiful small Cardboard Boxes from Amazon.com (AF* Link) to pop these in! Such a cute pregnancy reveal idea.

NOTES:
This crochet Pattern is written in US term

I have now included sizing for newborns and 0-3 months for the crocheted baby hat and booties. Please read ALL the Pattern instructions. 

Size of Hat for a Newborn 

circumference = 12- 12.5 inches, 

Crown Diameter / flat circle after increase rounds = 4.0′ inches

0-3 months Crochet a Baby hat Size

Hat circumference 13-13.5′ inches,

Crown Diameter /flat circle after increase rounds = 4.45 – 4.75 inches

NEWBORN Bootie Size  – 3.5″ Length of the foot and use 4mm (G) hook and Double Knit yarn

0-3 months Booties Size – 4.0′ Length of foot and Use Aran weight and a 4.00mm hook

Abbreviations used:

  • ch- Chain
  • hdc – Half Double Crochet 
  • ext hdc2tog – Work 2 extended half double crochet together 
  • dc – double crochet 
  • slst – Slip Stitch 

Crochet Booties Pattern Starts HERE (Make 2)

ch 10.

Rnd 1: Work 3 hdc in 3rd ch from the hook,  1 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, 6 hdc in the last chain. (Pull tight to close ) working back along the opposite side of the chain sts just worked, 1 hdc in each of the next 6 stitches,  3 hdc in the last chain. sl st to the top of the 3rd ch at the start of the row. (24)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in the base of starting ch (Counts as 2 hdc in the first space) 2 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in each of the next 6 sts, 1 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, 2 hdc in each of the last three stitches. 
Sl st to top of ch at the start. (36)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 1 sc all around in back loops only, Sl st to 1st top of chain to close. (36)

Rnd 4: Ch 1. Make the First stitch into the BASE of the Chain, 1 sc in the next 12 sts, *ext-hdc2tog,
* 7 times (over the next 14 sts), 1 sc in the next 10 sts, Slst to ch to close. (29)

Rnd 5: Ch 2, 1 hdc in next 10 stitches, ext-hdc2tog (TWICE) 2dc2tog (TWICE), ext- hdc2tog (TWICE), 1 hdc in next 7 sts. Sl st to ch to close. (23)

Rnd 6: Ch 1. 1 sc in next 9 stitches, ext-hdc2tog, dc2tog (TWICE), ext- hdc2tog, 1 sc in next 6sts.Sl st close. (19)

Rnd 7: Ch 1, 1 sc all around, slip stitch to join. (19 sts)

Rnd 8: Ch1,( slip st into next st, ch1)Repeat around slipping into ch1 at the start. 

Fasten off and weave in ends to finish. 

CROCHET Baby HAT PATTERN

Rnd 1: Chain 4, work 12 Dc (double crochet) into the FIRST chain on the hook.
slip into the 3rd chain from start to join pull tight to close.

Rnd 2: chain 2, 2dc in same space, 2Dc into each stitch around, slip to join (24)

Rnd 3: Ch2, 2dc in base of ch , *1dc in next, 2dc in next* repeat * to* around, slip to join (36)

Rnd 4: Ch2, starting in the base of the ch, *2dc, dc in next 6sts* repeat *to* around, slip to join ( 42)

Rnd 5 to Rnd 9: Ch2, dc in each stitch around, slip to join (42)

Rnd 10: ch1, sc in each stitch around. slip to join (42)

Rnd 11: (Ch1, slip stitch into next space) Repeat ( ) around for a decorative finish.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Easy Crochet BOW for the Hat and Booties 

Chain 10 (leave enough of a length of yarn to create the Chain TIE later)
slip into the FIRST chain on hook (1 tie made)
Chain 10 Slip into the First chain on hook (In same space as above)
Ch6, and FASTEN OFF
Return to the beginning length and Pull up a Loopthrough The SAME place as before,
Create 6 ch sts.

FASTEN OFF  and weave in all ends

    what do you mean in Rnd:4 of the bootie pattern when you say;
    ext-hdc2tog “7 times” ??? over the next 14 it’s.
    Should I go back and forth so there are 7 rows of ext-hdc2tog it’s and “then” do 1 sc in the next sts???
