This is the Perfect crochet heart shape to use for appliques and embellishments.

The Large crochet heart is an easy crochet project to make,  and I have added in the step-by-step image tutorial photos to help you crochet the heart.

I actually made this for my husband a special crochet heart mug rug for his Valentine’s Day, to keep his favorite special mug biscuit on to protect our little wooden table and the mug I got for putting up with me.

People have been asking where I got the Mug For my husband. You can find the MUG here on ETSY *(AF)

I have also made 2 holdings of 2 strands of yarn worked together and have turned this crochet heart into a small heart pillow.

I recently added a small crochet heart applique pattern to my website and created a cute heart key chain which you could also gift to your valentines.

Just crochet 2 small crochet hearts and sew them together, add just a little bit of stuffing.
I also made a homemade valentines card with a single heart applique

Please read all the Notes on how to crochet the heart as these will help you succeed, as the first 2 rounds work into the posts of previous rounds and chain stitches!

You can use any size hook and any size yarn to achieve whatever size of crochet heart you wish

I used some odd yarn in DK and a 4.00mm crochet hook  (see picture below )

This crochet heart is made in Rounds.

Large Crochet Heart Pattern 2D Applique

PLEASE READ NOTES:

For the first round, you will work Single crochet stitches INTO the Posts of a stitch
see Picture for placement of these sc stitches).

You will be working  2 single crochet stitches UP and INTO the starting chain, for the second round.
and working towards the center, work 2 single crochet into the 16th Trc crochet post.

You will also skip working in the chain base stitch,

Use this as a guide of where to create those Sc stitches in the second round.
You will slip stitch INTO THE hole (originally the 1st chain) to join this round. PLACE MARKER at the end of each round to help identify where to make the first stitch of the next rounds.

For the Main How to Crochet a Heart tutorial pictures I used 2 strands of DK yarn held together and a 5.00mm hook.

The finished height of the coaster mug rug was 9 inches and across measured 8.5 inches
