Designed as a classic amigurumi toy, this bunny is worked in parts, in a continuous spiral, using simple stitches, with step-by-step instructions, making it a great project for easter gifts, craft fairs, or keepsakes.

The long ears give it a timeless look, while the optional outfit ideas (dungaree pattern included)

This little crochet bunny pattern is worked in continuous rounds using basic amigurumi techniques.

The bunny is made in separate pieces that are sewn together, creating a sturdy finished toy with clearly defined shaping.

Long floppy ears give the bunny its classic look, while the simple body construction making it super easy for beginners to crochet this bunny

You can use standard worsted weight yarn or aran weight yarn (2 strands together or chunky blanket yarn. (I used Himalayian Dolphin – See Best Deals on Yarn HERE)

Facial features can be added using safety eyes or embroidered details, depending on preference and intended use.

Materials

To make this easy crochet bunny, you will need the following materials:

  • Yarn: Worsted or aran weight yarn or himalaya dolphin or similar weight .
  • Crochet Hook: 4.0 mm or 4.5 mm crochet hook
Use the hook size that gives you a firm fabric with no gaps.
  • Stuffing: Polyester fibre fill
  • Eyes: Safety eyes or embroidery floss for stitched facial features
  • Needle: Tapestry needle for sewing pieces together
  • douvle ended knitting needles (optional but i use these to secure the Bunnies lims in place before sewing together)
  • Tools: Scissors and stitch marker

Notes on Materials

This pattern is ideal for using leftover yarn from other toy projects, as the yardage required for the bunny is 100g and dungaress <25 grams

Using a slightly smaller hook than the yarn label suggests helps prevent stuffing from showing through. Also, use the YARN under Method for no hole Amigurumi stitches.

SAFTEY: Embroidered eyes are recommended if the bunny is intended for for very young children.

FInished Size of Bunny

The finished crochet bunny measures approximately 8–9 inches tall, including the ears, when made using worsted or aran weight yarn and a 4.0–4.5 mm crochet hook.

Finished size may vary slightly depending on yarn choice, hook size, and individual tension.

Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • inc – increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec – decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • rnd – round

Special Stitch

  • Yarn Under Single Crochet:
Insert hook into stitch, yarn under the hook, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through both loops on the hook.

Using the yarn under method creates tighter, more defined stitches and helps prevent gaps between stitches. This technique is commonly used in amigurumi to produce a firmer fabric with minimal holes, making it ideal for stuffed toys.

Pattern Notes

  • This crochet bunny is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join or turn unless stated otherwise.
  • NOTES: You DO NOT NEED to know how to start the amigurumi pieces with a Magic Circle (Magic ring) .
  • I prefer when working with this type of yarn to Chain 2 and work ALL the first Round INTO the first st.
  • Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round and move it up as you work.
  • The yarn under single crochet (YU sc) method is recommended throughout to create a tight fabric with minimal gaps.
  • Stuff pieces firmly but evenly as you go, taking care not to overstuff.
  • Pieces are sewn together using a tapestry needle unless otherwise stated.
  • Read through the pattern completely before starting to familiarise yourself with the construction.
