To crochet This Basic Bucket Hat
Materials You will need:

  • just under 100g women’s institute black yarn ( or Similar ARAN WEIGHT) and a 5.00 mm hook
  • Stitch markers – I use 12 small pieces of contrasting color yarn to mark my increases at the BRIM

The pattern is written in US terms
How to size the Bucket hat to fit so to crochet him the basic bucket hat I would need to work out his measurements.
He is medium in adult clothing size.
The Top of the Bucket ( across the circumference ) (this is your Measurement around the head = divide by 3.14.  Round up to the nearest .5 of the number So his measurement was 23 inches around (adult)
 I will then divide this by 3.14 = 7.32  rounded up = 7.50 inches ( 7 and a half inches diameter across )
I rounded UP as I wanted a bit of giving in the pattern.
I have written the pattern for you for this size however IF you wish to upsize I have included a small guide on how to do this
