This beautifully textured crochet ear warmer with a twist front is so easy to make.
Many Beginners at Crochet are put off by crocheting these types of twisted front ear warmers and headbands as they think they are tricky.
However, Crocheting this Earwarmer is so EASY and It has a fun TWIST at the front that is so simple to create.
These ear warmers are super popular and are great quick crochet projects especially to make for market prep as they make such a good gift for someone who loves their ear warmers.
The texture of the headband is made by working a slip stitch (slst) and a Half Double Crochet (hdc) into the SAME space, and on the alternate rows, you will make the 2 sts, (slst, hdc) BOTH stitches are worked into the SLIP STITCH of the Row before.
TO crochet this headband to fit you.ย
LENGTH of Crochet Headband – The chain at the start must fit around your head. These are the measurements that I use to crochet headbands.
You will make your Chain 1 INCH less than the desired SIZE measurement
I was crocheting this headband for a Medium Adult – so I will chain a length of 19 inches (DO NOT STRETCH the chain when measuring!)
WIDTH of a crochet Headband :ย
If you want to make an adult-sized warmer that fits comfortably, aim for a width between 3.5 inches for smaller sizes, approximately 4 inches for medium sizes, and 5 inches for larger sizes.
A great starting point for your crochet ear warmers could be a standard width of 3.5 inches but don’t hesitate to adjust the width based on your personal preference and the stitch pattern you plan to use.ย
ย
To ensure a cozy fit, and make sure that the ear warmer is slightly wider than your ears
ย
For this Earwamrer I will make mine 5 Inches WIDE. I used a nice Thick Yarn for this black one and its super cosy
ย
NOTE: You Can USE ANY YARN ANY HOOK to crochet this ear warmerย
I used We Love Yarn MEDIUM 4, If you want a thick Headband you can use any type of yarn you wish as long as you follow the stitch guidelines and SIZES.
Note the sizes for length you need and the size for WIDTH – write them down somewhere!
Crochet Hook Size A 6.00mm Crochet Hook (again adjust your hook if required to suit your yarn of choice )
To start: Chain a length of 1 inch LESS than your desired Headband length multiple of 2
I made a CH 60
ROW1:ย sc into the 3rd chain from hook (counts as ch1 TURN, sc in base of chain), *skip 1 stitch, (slip stitch, HDC) making both of these sts in the next stitch.* Repeat from *to* making a SINGLE CROCHET stitch into the LAST chain. Ch1, TURN
ROW 2: Sc into the first st, *Skip 1 st, (slst, HDC) both into the next St, repeat from * to *ย across, making a single crochet into the LAST stitch, Ch1, TURN
Row 3:ย Repeat ROW 2 until you have reached your WIDTH of the headband. (5 inches for the one I made in pictures)
Fasten OFF leaving a long tail to sew the 2 END together.
