Crochet Flowers are a wonderful way to brighten up any of your crochet projects. I Love adding crochet flowers to baby hats, Its addition really takes a basic crochet baby hat to look exquisite and expensive  I could sit crocheting flowers all day, and have a great collection of different crochet flower patterns, always something to suit my projects.

I thought I would share one of my favorite flower appliqué patterns with you.
It is a super simple 2 layer crochet flower pattern.
For the more advanced I have included the extra rounds to make into a 3 layer crochet flower.

If you add extra rounds it will look similar to the original 3 layer Crochet Flower I have available on my website HERE 
To make the Crochet flower in the Main picture above. 
 I used a 4.00mm Hook and  Double knit yarn.
For the step-by-step photos below I used 3.00mm (UK) and Baby double knit yarn
Because it is so easy to crochet the flowers once you have made one the simplicity of the pattern, means you can then make them using large or smaller hooks and thick or thinner yarn.These crochet flowers are fantastic to use to accent and finish off your projects, following the pattern with whatever size hook and Yarn you wish.

FLOWER
Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1 Ch 5, *sc in ring, ch 3* do this 6 times.
Join with
sl st to 2nd ch of beg ch.
Place marker for beg of rnd.
Slip marker
each rnd.
Rnd 2 *{Sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc} in next ch-3 sp, rep from * 6
times.
Join with sl st to beg sc.
Rnd 3 1Sc around the back post of previous SC of Rnd 2,
 ch 6, * sc
around the back post of next Rnd2 SC,  rep this step 6 times in total.
Join
with sl st to beg sc.
You will now have 6 chains around the back of flower to make the next layer petals.
Rnd 4 *{Sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc} in next ch-6 sp,
rep from *A TOTAL of 6 times  6
petals created
 Join with sl st to beg sc.
(you now have a 2 layered flower)
Advanced:
To make more rounds of petals – continue working around the back post of
Rnd 5 Sc through back of sc of Rnd 4, ch 6, * sk next sc,
sc
through back of next sc of Rnd 4,
ch 6, rep from * 5 times.
Join
with sl st to beg sc.
Rnd 6 Repeat Round 4. Fasten off.FINISHING
Weave in ends.

How to crochet a flower in Photos!

You will now have 6 chains around the back of the flower to make the next layer of petals.

Join with sl st to beg sc.
(you now have a 2 layered flower)

You now know how to crochet around the back post of the previous round single crochet to make the next layers petals. to make the flower bigger with more layers just repeat Rnd 3 and Rnd 4.
