Water Bottle Holder Crochet Pattern FREE
The crochet Water bottle holder with a long strap is a Super Easy project to crochet. I made it in less than an hour! and once I posted it of course I got requests for the pattern.
I needed a new water bottle holder after the one I purchased broke! So I set out with some lovely cotton yarn and ended up with a lovely new crocheted water bottle cover!

I think these would sell really well at the markets, and make a great gift idea to those who like to carry their water bottles around!
The decorative diagonal crochet pattern is used on the bottom and the top of the water bottle and is just a simple play on the exact spot where I inserted the crochet hook within the 2 single crochet stitches worked into the same place.
Lift the LAST LEG of the SC stitch of the 2scs, pull the loop forward, and insert the hook INTO the space you normally would work the next 2sc clusters and work the 2 new single crocheters through what would be the correct space to work the stitches
The only difference is where to insert the hook to make the stitch, just make sure you lift that final diagonal post of the stitch!!!)

Just Pay special attention to where to insert your Hook Slide your hook UNDER the 4th LEG of the previous 2 single crochet stitches, and THEN insert hook into the space BETWEEN the previous rows 2 sc cluster worked into the SAME SPACE.
**NOTE: If you do not want to make the diagonal line, nor figure out the placement of the hook you can just work 2 single crochet in one space, and in the next row 2sc into the space between the 2 single crochet clusters

I used a recycled Cotton yarn and a 4.00 mm crochet hook
DO NOT join the rounds! Work continuously, using a marker to help keep track of your rounds.
Abbreviations: US TERMS USED
Ch- Chain
sts – stitches
sc – single crochet
2sc – Work 2 single crochet stitches into the SAME space
Work in continuous rounds Do NOT JOIN, use a stitch marker or coloured piece of yarn to help keep track of rounds
SPecial Decorative 2sc Cluster – working 2 sc by inserting needle through the LAST leg of the 2scof previous row and lifting it to insert hook into the work between the previous rounds 2sc sts
Bottle Holder Pattern
Round1: ch2, and work 6sc into the 1st chain made (6sts)
Round 2: 2sc in each stitch around (12sts)
Round 3: 2sc in next st, sc in the next st (18sts)
Round 4: 2sc in next st, sc in the next 2 sts (24sts),
Round5: 2sc in next st, sc in the next 3 sts (30sts)
Round 6: 2sc in next st, sc in the next 4 sts (36sts)
Round 5:*skip 1 stitch and work 2sc into the next st* repeat around (work the 2sc LOOSELY) (18 2sc cluster)
Round 6: (start of the Decorative stitch) *work the first 2sc cluster of this round through the front of the leg of the 4th line of the previous rounds 2sc sts, and working into the space between the 2scts) * Repeat Around
Round 7: to Round16: *work the first 2sc cluster, through the front of the of the 4th line and through the space between the previous rounds 2sc sts* Repeat Around
Round 17: *Chain 5, skip 3 sts, slst in next st* repeat from * to * around, do NOT finish off round but continue working, Chain 5, slst into the NEXT Ch5 SPACE (each round will have 9 x Ch5 spaces)
Repeat Round 18: until you have completed 12 FULL Ch5, Mesh stitch row. FINISH in the LAST ch5 space working 2sc into the 3rd chain of the Ch5 space
Pattern Row at the neck of the holder (This is the SAME Decorative pattern as the bottom of the Water Bottle)
Round 26: skip 2chs *working a 2sc in the 3rd chain of the chain 5, and 2sc sts in the slip stitches of previous round * Repeat Around
Round 27: *skip stitch and work 2sc into the next st* repeat around
Round 28: *work 2sc into the 3rd and 4th line of the previous rounds 2sc, *Repeat from *to *around
Round 31: *work 2sc into the 3rd and 4th line of the previous rounds 2sc, *Repeat from *to * around
DO NOT FASTEN OFF
Cross Body Water Bottle Strap
DO NOT ch1 at the beginning of Rows. Turn and work directly into the first st. This gives a lovely neat strap. work as MANY Rows as you would like the length of the strap to be!
Rows 1 to Rows ? : Working sc into the NEXT single crochet sts working over 5 stitches, TURN, DO NOT CH to start
Once you have completed your Strap length, Fasten OFF and leave a tail to SEW the strap to the water bottle (make sure the Strap Ends are evenly apart!
