You could substitue yarn and hook however I found the best results using these.

  • You will crochet a total of 12 petals, 
  • 3 x small
  • 3x medium
  • 3 x large
  • 3x extra large


SMALL ROSE PETAL (MAKE 3)

Rnd 1: ch2, work 6 sc into the first chain,  slip to join (6)
Rnd 2: Ch1, 2Sc in each stitch around slip to join. (12)
Rnd 3: Ch1, 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next   Repeat from * to around, slip to join. (18)
Rnd 4: Ch1, 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches Repeat from * to*  around, slip to join. (24)
Rnd 5: Ch1, *2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitches* Repeat from * to*  around slip to join.  (30)
Rnd 6: Ch1,  sc in next 11 sts, 2sc in next, sc in next 4sts, 2sc in next,sc in next 4 sts. 2sc in next, sc to last st, slip to join. Ch3, dc in base of chain st, dc into nxt.

How to Crochet the ROSE sepal

Your Rose petals will sit on this when they are all glued together.

Rnd 1: Ch2, work 10 sc into the FIRST chain. (DO NOT pull to tighten you will pull the end  threads of the leaves through this and then tighten later) 
Rnd 2: ch1, 2 sc in each stitch around. sl sl to join. 
Rnd 3 and Rnd 4: Work 2 more Rounds in Sc
Rnd 5:  Chain 9, working BACK along the chain just made, slip stitch to 2nd chain on hook, sc, hdc, dc to the last chain,  skip 1 stitch of the circle, slip to join leaf back onto the main ring. Repeat ( ) around. 

Rose Leaf Crochet Pattern

I made a few leaves for the rose in just 1 round, and then some of the bigger ones, with wire you can choose which you prefer. 

Using a 3.00mm hook and green yarn 

ch13,  sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next,  dc in next 3sts,  trc in next st, 2trc in next st, dc in next 2sts, hdc, sc,  slip st to last ch,  and turn work so you can now work the second side of the crochet leaf. Back along the opposite side of the  stitches just worked 

(into the first chain work ch1, sc, ) hdc, dc in next 2sts, 2trc in next st, trc in nxt, dc in next 3 sts,dc in next, sc in last st, ch1 and slip to join

  • Secure the stem by threading all the loose ends through the hole in the green piece. Pull them tightly and finish them off. You can either wrap more green yarn around the red threads to conceal them, or carefully melt the ends together with a lighter and tuck them into the sepal.
  • Wrap green yarn around the entire length of the stem, including the wire. If you need to extend the stem, simply twist additional wire onto the existing piece. Continue wrapping the green yarn to completely cover the wire.
