Easy Crochet Baby Christmas Hat FREE Pattern

Baby hat size to fit:  0-3 months Use a 4.50mm hook

• Crown diameter = 4.5″ Approx

• Circumference = 14″ Approx 

• Height of Hat = 5.75″ Approx 

Baby Hat size to fit: 3 – 6 months use a 5mm hook

• Crown Diameter = 5.25 ” approx

• Hat Circumference  = 16 ” approx

• Height of Hat = 6 ”approx (15cm)

Easy Crochet Baby Hat Pattern 

Ch4, sl st to 1st ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1. Ch4 to start and work, and work 14dc into the FIRST chain from the hook,  sl st to top of beg ch to join. (14 sts).

Rnd 2. Ch3, working into the BASE of the chain, 2 dc in each stitch around, sl st to top of beg ch to join (28 sts) 

Rnd 3: Ch3, 1dc in the BASE of chain st, *2dc in next, dc in next* repeat from * to * around, sl st to top of beg ch to join  (42sts)

Rnd 4. Ch2, 2dc in base of ch st, 1dc in next   2 sts, *2dc in next st, 1dc in next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * sl st to top of ch2 to join (56sts) 

At the end of Rnd 4, Please CHECK your measurements. The diameter of your hat at Rnd 4 should measure:

• Newborn: APPROX 4.25”

• 0-3 months: APPROX 4.75”

• 3-6 months: APPROX 5.25”

Rnd 5 to Rnd 11: Ch2, working the first dc INTO the base of the chain, continue working 1 Dc in each stitch around. 

Continue working in the Round until the HAT HEIGHT for your size has been reached.

• Newborn: APPROX 5”

• 0-3 months: APPROX 5.75”

• 3-6 months: APPROX 6”

If you would like to crochet the Spiral Curls for the hat 

in Chosen color and the same hook you crocheted the baby hat in. 

Chain 2

*Starting by working INTO the 2nd Chain from the hook, work 3 sc, in EVERY chain to end. slip stitch into the very last chain, *  and then Chain 20 again,  repeating the exact same.

Repeat for however many spirals you wish on top of the baby hat. 

For the little Red Berry. Ch 3, and work 5 hdc into the chain. Fasten off and pull to tighten.

Fasten off and weave in ends to finish.

Simple Holly Leaf Crochet Pattern 

TO create a Picot = chain 3, slst into the second chain 

NOTE: you will work a double crochet (DC Picot dc ALL into the Same stitch) 

Using a small crochet hook 2.5mm hook and double knit yarn 

ch13 

Row 1: Chain 13, sc in the second from the hook,  hdc in next st, dc in next 8 sts, hdc in next st, 3sc in the final chain 
Turn your work. 
Working in the opposite side of the chain, hdc in the next st, dc in the next 8 sts, hdc in the nxt, sc in the last st, sl st into the first sc.

Row 2. Chain 1, sc in the base of ch, hdc in next st, *hdc, (dc, chain 3, slst into the second chain, dc -ALL worked in the same stitch)  hdc in the next st, sc into the next st * repeat from *to * one  more time,  

hdc in next  st, (in the same stitch work dc, picot, dc) 

hdc in next st (dc, picot, dc) all worked into the same stitch (TOP of leaf)

hdc in next st, (dc, picot, dc)

 hdc in next st, sc in next, hdc in next st  (dc, picot, dc – ALL worked in the same stitch,)

 hdc in nxt st, sc in next st, hdc in next st,  (dc, picot, dc – ALL worked in the same stitch,)

 hdc in nxt st, sc in next st and  slst to join,  

Fold the Bottom of the Holly Leaf in half and slst along both sides of the bottom of the leaf for 2 stitches, securely fasten off with the tail. 

Red Berries (If you’d prefer FLAT berries follow the same insturctions above) 

Or simple Round Button cherries

In RED 

Rnd 1: ch2, and work 6 single crochet into the first chain from the hook, Slst to join and fasten off. 

Rnd 2: 2sc into each st around, 

Rnd 3: 2sctogether, repeat around (6sts) 

Use the tail to weave in and around the last row and pull to close 

Fasten off & weave in your ends. Leave a long tail on the second leaf to join the leaves together.
