The problem making the original pattern any smaller means you start to lose the effect of the ribbing.

So with a little bit of tweaking to the original pattern This is the newborn-sized hat pattern

Materials you will need to crochet the baby peaked cap.

Yarn Used 100grms Baby Double Knit yarn

How to make a stiff Brim for the Baby cap:

Working with double strands

I used Red Heart Bella  DK in white (Buy Now AF*)and a 3.50mm hook

Special Notes:

I would suggest you read through this pattern, you will see there are different chains at the beginning of different rounds, so watch out for those changes

Your hat will look completely miss-shaped but trust the process.
RND 10. where we are going to start decreasing the V stitches in the round
for the shaping of the hat.

Please remember this hat started as a larger baby hat and adult hat,  so we can keep the shaping and ribbing we have had to play around with it a little.
And special attention to Rnd 11: decrease by working the 2 dc of the previous rounds V stitch together in Front Post Double Crochet
As always any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
